# Making a credit sale

## Why this matters

A credit sale records that an approved customer received the goods now and will pay some or all of the amount later.

> [Start the interactive guide in Dukarun](https://app.dukarun.com/learn/making-a-credit-sale). It opens the real sell screen and points to the controls as you work.

## Before you start

The products must be active and available at the current location. The customer must be approved for credit and have enough available credit for the sale.

The task-specific walkthrough is being prepared. For now, watch this Dukarun overview.

## Steps

1. Open **Sell** and add the products the customer is taking.
2. Search for and select the customer.
3. Check the items, quantities, prices, and total.
4. Review the customer's available credit and any downpayment that Dukarun will apply.
5. Choose **Sell on credit**.
6. Review **Confirm credit sale**, then choose **Confirm sale**.

## What changes in Dukarun

Stock falls by the quantity sold. Dukarun records revenue and cost of goods sold. The unpaid amount becomes a receivable on the customer's account. Cash only changes for any payment or downpayment applied to the sale.

## If something does not look right

* If **Sell on credit** is unavailable, make sure a customer is selected and approved for credit.
* Check that the sale fits within the customer's available credit.
* A credit sale is already revenue. Do not record a second sale when the customer pays later.
